Compassionate Hearts Volunteers recognised

Twelve volunteers with Compassionate Hearts on the Bellarine received surprise visits with bunches of beautiful flowers during National Volunteer Week. Lon Retreat and Spa kindly provided the flowers which delighted the CHoB volunteers, including Sue and Les Littleford of Clifton Springs (pictured).

CHoB’s aims are to provide assistance during times of illness, dying, grief and loss.  The organisation works closely with Bellarine Community Health Palliative Care staff who provide the medical support needed. This period of limited contact due to CoVID 19 has been difficult for both volunteers and their clients but many have continued their contact via phone or email and in other unique ways.  Geoff, a volunteer from Ocean Grove, has composed and recorded a song based on his client’s life, which brought great joy to this man.  Another volunteer from Pt Lonsdale continues to walk her client’s dog for her, thereby relieving that person of having to worry about her beloved companion’s fitness welfare.
